A 34-year-old woman presented to our hospital’s orthopedics clinic complaining of lower back pain radiating to the lower limb, accompanied by numbness and tingling. Examination revealed foot drop resulting from a spinal nerve injury. Subsequent X-rays and MRI scans identified a herniated nucleus pulposus causing severe nerve compression at the vertebral level—a condition posing a risk of complete nerve severance without surgical intervention. The patient underwent surgery involving a discectomy and nerve decompression, followed by spinal stabilization at the affected level. Post-operatively, there was immediate pain relief and the beginning of improvement in the foot drop. The patient was discharged the following day in very good general condition.
